Course Description This course aims at providing the necessary knowledge to perform state-of-the-art numerical simulations in the various fields of acoustics. The first part focuses on finite element methods to conduct analysis of structural dynamics. The second part deals with the acoustic problem, employing both finite difference and finite element methods, and introduces the fundamentals of geometrical acoustics through ray tracing formulation. Finally, the last part of the module analyses vibroacoustic problems, with particular attention to the simulation of sound radiation from a vibrating structure, by means of BEM and Rayleigh approaches, and the fluid-structure coupling. Each topic is treated both theoretically and practically, through lectures and computer labs.
