Course Title DIGITAL TWIN FOR INDUSTRIAL SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT
Course Type Mono-Disciplinary Course
Credits (CFU / ECTS) 5.0
Period 2nd semester
Course Description Models have become a key aspect of any industrial asset, in the form of a Digital-Twin that often replicates the entire life-cycle of a system in its operative environment. Digital-twins, leveraging on both continuous time-based and event-based simulations, can be used for system management optimization, decision making and cost&benefit tradeoff analysis. After a brief recall of aspects related to life-cycle management, maintenance strategies and typical degradation and failure mechanisms of an industrial system, students will learn different strategies for event-based, time-based and decision-logic modelling and simulation, with direct exploitation of each topic in realistic practices. Finally, the course provides a laboratory experience in which the students, with the help of a tutor, will model and simulate the operative scenario of a real industrial system.
