Course Title ENERGY SYSTEMS
Course Type Mono-Disciplinary Course
Credits (CFU / ECTS) 10.0
Semester First Semester
Course Description "The Energy Systems course is aimed at engineering knowledge of the components, machines, and systems that provide energy conversion and management, with an emphasis on energy efficiency and environmental issues. Instruction contributes to the development of the ability to: Understand the principles of energy conversion systems, technological limitations, and their application in various energy sectors. Design solutions by applying the scientific and engineering approach (learning, reasoning, and modeling based on a solid multidisciplinary background) in dealing with simple problems of the sizing of components present in the energy transformation, transportation, and end-use processes. To design energy conversion systems in order to maximize energy/economic/environmental savings in the various applications of interest. The topics covered concern the main thermodynamic cycles and their real application, in particular: steam systems, turbogas, refrigeration cycles, heat pumps, hydraulic systems, cogeneration, and tri-generation plants.
