Course Title ELECTROCHEMICAL ENERGY GENERATORS
Course Type Mono-Disciplinary Course
Credits (CFU / ECTS) 5.0
Semester Second Semester
Course Description In this course an up to date review of the currently available technologies for producing energy using electrochemical systems is given. The various physico-chemical processes involved in these systems are analysed in detail and appropriate quantitative mathematical models are developed. These allow us analysing the specific aspectes of these technologies that are currently responsible for their success on the market. After a brief summary of the necessary fundamental aspects of electrochemistry, the main processes for the production of energy with electrochemical systems are considered. We start with the energy accumulators by distinguishing the various scales of their application. Next, fotovoltaic systems and feul cells are discussed, by analysing in detail the properties of the involved materials in connnection with the performance of the final unit.
