Course Title HERITAGE PRESERVATION FUNDAMENTALS
Course Type Mono-Disciplinary Course
Credits (CFU / ECTS) 4.0
Semester Second Semester
Course Description The course in Historical Preservation Fundamentals introduces the theme of conservation and preservation culture in Italy, starting from the etymology of the word "heritage" and its meaning as a collective good transmitted from generation to generation. Preservation is synonymous with protection and care. In the case of the architectural heritage, it is carried out through programs and projects of conservation, reuse and valorisation. Students will gain awareness of the extent of ptotection - which by law in Italy deals with the cultural heritage and landscape. The course involves students in the process of identifying and defining everything - tangible and intangibile cultural heritage - that the past passes on to future generations. The method proposed by the course, applicable to buildings, both contemporary and traditional architecture, is functional to the project and can be enriched and extended.
