Course Description The course aims at providing theoretical and practical knowledge about Human Machine Interfaces (HMI)s and their role in different application fields (Industrial, Product, Automotive, etc.). The course will introduce the basic knowledge of human perception, cognition and behavior to understand how these aspects can affect the usability of an HMI. Advanced visualization, monitoring, and interaction technologies and techniques will be presented and discussed to allow students to understand how they can be used to develop effective HMIs. Basic knowledge of Usability and User Experience and the methods to acquire quantitative and qualitative data for their evaluation and validation. By the end of the course, the students will be able to understand the critical elements of an HMI, develop its prototype and evaluate it with the most appropriate research methodology.
